TyreSafe Announces Partnership with the Institute of Highway Engineers

TyreSafe is proud to announce a significant new partnership with the Institute of Highway Engineers (IHE). This collaboration represents a shared commitment to improving road safety and ensuring that the importance of legal, safe, and well-maintained tyres is integral in delivering a safe system approach to highways infrastructure management.

Since 1972, the IHE has been a leader in professional development for highways professionals, offering registration with the Engineering Council and accreditation of academic courses. The institute plays a vital role in supporting members with specialist advisors, mentors, and reviewers, and works closely with the government to improve the highway environment.

By partnering with the IHE, TyreSafe will extend its reach to professionals in the highways sector, providing educational resources, tyre safety support, and a platform to champion critical safety messages. Together, TyreSafe and the IHE aim to influence the industry and raise awareness about tyre maintenance and its impact on safety for all road users—whether driving for work or leisure.  The partnership also supports TyreSafe’s ongoing strategy to work within the Safe Systems framework to support road users of all types in understanding the importance of driving or riding on legal and appropriately maintained tyres.

Stuart Lovatt, TyreSafe Chair, said “This partnership with the Institute of Highway Engineers is a pivotal step in our mission to improve road safety. By working with the IHE, we can provide their members with the tools, knowledge, and resources needed to continue to build the case for road improvement schemes. Together, we are making strides toward safer roads for everyone.”

Lyle Andrew Chief Executive at the Institute of Highway Engineers, added, “The IHE is delighted to partner with TyreSafe to promote tyre safety as an essential aspect of professional highway practice. With TyreSafe’s expertise and resources, we can better equip our members to lead by example and make a tangible difference in reducing tyre-related incidents on our roads, and continue to implement ever safer roads infrastructure across the UK.”

This partnership will pave the way for joint initiatives, educational campaigns, and resources aimed at reducing incidents caused by tyre neglect. TyreSafe looks forward to collaborating with the IHE to further its mission of saving lives and making every journey safer.
