Kent County Council Joins Forces with TyreSafe to Promote Road Safety Across the County

Kent County Council joins a growing list of regional supporters and local authorities looking to raise awareness of tyre safety and maintenance to protect its road users.

Kent County Council has joined TyreSafe as an official supporter, enhancing its commitment to improving road safety across the county. The partnership will focus on educating road users about the dangers of poorly maintained tyres and encouraging regular tyre checks to reduce the number of tyre-related incidents on Kent’s roads.

As part of its ongoing road safety strategy, Kent County Council will work closely with TyreSafe to deliver public awareness campaigns, providing essential guidance on tyre maintenance and legal requirements. With illegal and poorly maintained tyres contributing to thousands of MOT failures, breakdowns, and serious road casualties each year, this collaboration aims to equip Kent’s road users with the knowledge and tools to stay safe on the road.

Stuart Lovatt, TyreSafe Chair, said “Kent County Council’s commitment to road safety aligns perfectly with TyreSafe’s mission to reduce tyre-related incidents and casualties. By working together to educate drivers on the importance of tyre checks, we can make a real impact in preventing incidents and ensuring safer journeys for all road users in Kent.”

Simon Jones, Corporate Director of Growth, Environment and Transport at Kent County Council, highlighted the importance of this initiative, “Road safety is a key priority for Kent County Council and we recognise the critical role that well-maintained tyres play in preventing crashes. By partnering with TyreSafe, we can provide drivers with clear, practical advice on tyre safety, helping to reduce the risk of collisions and breakdowns caused by illegal or poorly maintained tyres.”

The partnership will see TyreSafe’s latest educational materials and campaign resources shared across Kent, supporting initiatives that encourage drivers to check their tyres regularly. Road users are urged to follow the simple ACT acronym—Air pressure, Condition, and Tread— once a month, every month, and before long journeys, to ensure their tyres are safe and roadworthy.
