This innovative campaign, while lighthearted, carries a vital message – prioritising tyre safety not only keeps motorists safe but also saves them money and minimises the risks associated with underinflated and defective tyres.[/bs-text]

What’s the “Safe and Save” Campaign All About?

This engaging campaign harnesses the power of animation, press templates, a comprehensive social media toolkit, and print-ready materials. It encourages motorists from all walks of life to proactively focus on tyre safety. While the campaign incorporates a touch of humour, its core message underscores the crucial dual aspect of safety on the road and saving money. It compares real-life savings achieved through tyre checks with ineffective and counterproductive cost-saving tricks.

The campaign has a range of materials targeting drivers of most vehicles including motorcyclists, caravan and motorhome drivers, van drivers and cars.

The “A.C.T” Acronym – The Key to Tyre Safety

Air Pressure: Proper air pressure is essential for fuel efficiency. Incorrect pressure can lead to excessive rolling resistance and increased fuel consumption. Always check your vehicle’s recommended tyre pressure settings, which can be found in the owner’s manual, door shut, or fuel filler cap. Use an accurate gauge to check all four tyres.

Condition: Monitor the tread depth of your tyres. The legal minimum tread depth in the UK is 1.6mm. If your tyres approach or fall below 2mm, consider changing them, especially before winter conditions. The tread helps clear water and provides grip on ice and snow. Use a 20p coin as a guide – if the rim is visible at any point across the tread, consult a tyre professional.

Tread: Conduct a thorough visual inspection of all four tyres, looking for cuts, lumps, or bulges that could indicate internal damage. Remove any stones or foreign objects lodged in the tyre grooves.

Stuart Lovatt, Chair of TyreSafe, said: “We are excited to introduce the ‘Safe and Save’ campaign, which cleverly combines a light-hearted approach with a serious mission. Through this campaign, we aim to reach motorists across all segments and emphasise the significance of regular tyre checks. By doing so, not only can they save on fuel and tyre wear costs, but also contribute to safer roads for everyone.”

This not only hits wallets but also elevates the risk of accidents and blowouts. The “Safe and Save” campaign strives to change this narrative by encouraging monthly tyre checks. It highlights the crucial connection between tyre safety, saving money, and potentially saving lives.
