Cumbria Police

Britain’s emergency services have provided incredible support since TyreSafe was founded in 2006 and the work of Cumbria Police is no exception.

Why did Cumbria Police get involved?

Cumbria Police worked on two fatal traffic accident investigations where defective tyres were a contributory factor. As such they wanted to help make more drivers aware of the dangers of defective and illegal tyres in order to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured through tyre-related accidents.

What did Cumbria Police do?

Working with a number of partners Cumbria Police organised tyre safety open days with the Stobart Group and M-Sport at locations such as Carlisle Airport. They also worked with O-Mack Tyres to promote tyre safety messages through high-profile rallying events.

The result

The open days were attended by over 20,000 people and the force has seen a reduction in the number of tyre related accidents.
