Supporting the county’s road safety initiative by providing expert tyre safety advice and guidance

TyreSafe is delighted to announce its partnership with Lancashire County Council a local authority committed to eliminating all traffic fatalities and severe injuries while encouraging and facilitating safer, healthier, and more equitable travel for everyone in Lancashire.

This collaboration marks a significant step forward in the shared mission of both organisations to create safer roads, and protect all road users. TyreSafe’s vision of achieving “zero harm to road users because of illegal or poorly maintained tyres” aligns seamlessly with the ambition of Lancashire County Councils Road Safety Strategy 2025-27 to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured (KSI) on the county roads.

This partnership will see TyreSafe and Lancashire collaborate on awareness campaigns, educational resources, and community engagement activities to promote the importance of tyre safety across the region. By working together, the two organisations aim to make a tangible difference in reducing road danger and improving the safety of Lancashire’s road network.

Tyre safety is a critical component of road safety, with illegal or poorly maintained tyres being a contributing factor in many road incidents. By joining forces with Lancashire TyreSafe will amplify its efforts to educate drivers, businesses, and local authorities on the importance of tyre safety and correctly maintained tyres.

Stuart Lovatt, TyreSafe Chair said, “Our partnership with Lancashire County Council reflects our shared belief that no death or serious injury on our roads is acceptable. Poorly maintained or illegal tyres remain a significant risk to road safety, and by working together, we can tackle this issue head-on, ensuring safer journeys for everyone. At TyreSafe, we are proud to align our efforts with Lancashire to help reduce fatalities and serious injuries in Lancashire.”

Rupert Swarbrick (Cabinet Member for Highways and Transport) said: “We are very pleased to welcome TyreSafe as a partner in our mission to make the roads of Lancashire safer for everyone. The use of advocacy and collaboration with our road safety partners, engaging with our stakeholders and supporting national road safety groups is vital in making our roads safer for everyone.

“Tyre safety is a vital part of our Safe System approach, and TyreSafe’s expertise and advocacy will play a key role in helping us achieve our ambition for Vision Zero.

“Together, we can ensure that all road users benefit from safer, more sustainable travel options.”
