The UK’s Tyre Safety Charity

Welcome to TyreSafe, the UK’s leading authority on tyre safety.

TyreSafe, a registered charity since 2016, was established in 2006 with a clear aim: to reduce tyre-related incidents on Britain’s roads. We achieve this by enhancing road users’ awareness of crucial tyre maintenance and highlighting the severe dangers posed by illegal or poorly maintained tyres.

Our dedication has been recognised with two prestigious Prince Michael International Road Safety Awards, most recently in 2024. The need for our work is stark: in 2023, 190 people were killed or seriously injured in incidents related to defective tyres, a concerning 29% rise from the previous year. This figure is on par with mobile phone-related incidents, and over 6 million UK tyres annually have illegal tread.

Our vision is to eliminate harm to road users due to illegal or poorly maintained tyres. We empower drivers through education and actively campaign for essential policy changes. Join us and over 200 other organisations in making Britain’s roads safer.
