5 December 2023 at 6:00 pm - 7:30 pm

Free

Are you ready to delve into the intriguing world of AI and its impact on business psychology?

Some (provocative) observations that we will debate:

🔥 Is AI an evolution or revolution?

British Airways were ‘early adopters’ and created an AI team back in 1990 (before it was so ‘cool’) that automated live decision making in its pricing and management of seat capacity. It’s been evolving its use of AI ever since.

🔥 Why ask nerds about morals?

Business Psychologists are often nerds who have great difficulties in thinking about moral implications. They mostly want to play with the data and get insights.Association of BusinessAI and its impact on business psychology

🔥 Is AI the new Boogeyman?

Are ethical concerns surrounding AI overstated?

🔥 How does AI’s data utilization compare to traditional methods?

The real challenge is that AI can utilise the wealth of online scraped personal data, whereas Business Psychologists normally work with skimpy traditional data limited to just gender, age, race and disability.

🔥 Are fairness issues more controllable with traditional statistical methods?

Powerful AI algorithms create a plethora of fairness issues, whereas the not-so-powerful traditional statistical methods benefit from well-known and controlled for fairness issues.

“Ask not what Business Psychology can do for AI, but what can AI do for Business Psychology?”

The audience member with the best answer will be gifted a free year’s membership of the Association for Business Psychology (ABP).
