Dr Eliane Algaard

Dr Eliane Algaard, Operations Director, SSEN

Eliane has over 20 years’ experience in infrastructure asset management and business planning in the Water and Rail sectors. She is a chartered civil engineer with an MSc and PhD in civil engineering from Glasgow University and is a fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers.  She started her career at Veolia Water where she carried out a number of different roles, including Network and Leakage Strategy Manager, when she had responsibility for the development of a £130m 5-year capital programme.

In 2008 Eliane joined Network Rail as Strategic Planner before becoming Director of Route Asset Management on the Anglia Route, responsible for overseeing all asset management activities throughout the region.

Eliane became Water Director at Northumbrian Water in 2018, ensuring the supply of clean and safe water to 794,000 properties in Essex & Suffolk and to 1.3 million properties in the north east.

In August 2020, Eliane was appointed at the Operations Director of the Southern Distribution network of SSEN.  She will play an integral role in the Distribution leadership team and as member of the SSEPD Board, will be responsible for the network operations, strategic investment and contact centre for SSEN’s southern distribution licence area, which serves over three million customers. Leading a team of over 1,500, her working base is in Reading.

Eliane enjoys spending time with her family, working on her allotment and reading.

 

Session Synopsis

Nicky Thompson is leading a panel discussion with David Hawkins, Eliane Algaard, Steven Abrahams, and Jeremy Campbell to explore collaboration.  The panellists will be asked what collaboration means to them, how they ensure the right resourcing recipe, how collaboration industry standards can support successful project delivery and how can collaborative working support delivering behavioural and cultural change.  There will be an opportunity at the end to ask your questions to the panellists.
